Just Moved to the Treasure Valley? We Haul the Boxes Away.

The pile after a move is almost entirely bulk and almost no weight, which makes it one of the easiest jobs we do — and one of the most satisfying, because a garage goes from unusable to empty in about twenty minutes.

Cardboard. Moving boxes, wardrobe boxes, dish barrels, and the cartons that furniture, TVs, mattresses and appliances arrived in. These are usually the bulkiest thing in the pile.

Packing material. Packing paper, bubble wrap, foam sheets and corner blocks, packing peanuts, air pillows, plastic stretch wrap, mattress bags, and the moving blankets that did not survive.

The other things a move leaves behind. Pallets from a delivery, broken-down shelving that did not fit the new place, a mattress that did not make the trip, the desk that got wrecked in the truck, and whatever else is now stacked against the garage wall.

If it came into the house as packaging, or it broke on the way here, we will take it.

Meridian gives every household a 95-gallon recycling cart with a red lid, and cardboard belongs in it. Boxes have to be emptied and flattened, and recycling is collected every other week rather than weekly. In unincorporated Ada County the guidance is to break boxes down to no larger than four feet by four feet and set the extra beside the bin.

So here is the honest version. If your boxes fit in that cart flattened, use the cart. It is already paid for, and a handful of boxes will clear on the next pickup. Do not call a junk removal company for that.

The reason people call us is the arithmetic. A three-bedroom move typically produces far more flattened cardboard than one 95-gallon cart holds, and with collection running every other week you are looking at a month or more of feeding it through a cart a bit at a time — while the rest sits in the garage. The alternative is four or five trips to the landfill in your own vehicle, which costs fuel, a Saturday, and the inside of your car.

One trip, one price, and the garage is clear the same day. That is the whole pitch, and it only makes sense above a certain volume. We would rather tell you where that line is than take a job you did not need.

Ada and Canyon counties have added more than 150,000 residents since the 2020 census, according to the regional planning agency COMPASS, taking the two counties to roughly 876,000 people.

Meridian passed 152,000 residents in 2026 and gained about 4,730 people in a single year, which makes it Idaho’s second-largest city. Kuna added roughly 4,810 people in one year — a 14% jump. Star has gone from about 11,100 residents in 2020 to nearly 25,000, a 131% increase in six years. Middleton is up more than 60% over the same period, and Caldwell added around 5,160 people.

That is a lot of garages full of cardboard, and it is why this is one of the most common calls we get. If you have just arrived and are looking at a wall of flattened boxes wondering what people here do with them, the answer is that most of your new neighbors were wondering the same thing a few months ago.

It also means we know the new subdivisions. Tell us the neighborhood and we will know the access, the gate, and whether the driveway takes a truck and trailer.

Most post-move box and packaging loads run $120–$165, which is our quarter-trailer-load price. A single stack already sitting at the curb can go for as little as $79. A whole-house move where the packaging has been accumulating for weeks sometimes reaches half a load at $200–$300, though that is less common than people expect, because cardboard compresses.

We price by how much of the trailer you fill, not by weight — which works heavily in your favor here, since packaging is the lightest thing we ever carry. It also means flattening your boxes genuinely saves you money. A garage of un-flattened boxes can read as a half load; the same boxes flattened often come in at a quarter. We will tell you that on the phone rather than after we have loaded them.

You get the number before we start, and it does not change once we are there.

We come to where it is. The garage, the spare room that became the box room, down the side of the house — you do not need to drag anything to the curb, and you do not need to be there for the whole thing as long as we can get to it.

Clean, dry cardboard goes to recycling. Where packing paper and clean foam can be taken, they go there too. Anything wet, contaminated, or so bound up in tape and film that no facility will take it goes to the landfill — we would rather say that plainly than claim a rate we cannot back up.
